Sunday Apr 16, 2023
Sunday Apr 16, 2023
We are to respond to the gospel with a life of service, as a humble reflection of Christ’s ultimate example as the Servant King. As we look at the way Christ was born, lived, died, and was resurrected back to glory, we see the beauty and power of living as a servant, and are compelled to do the same.

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:5-8)
“If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.” (John 12:26)
“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”( Romans 8:32)
“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence…” (1 Peter 1:3)
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)
“...looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2)
Quotes:
“The true way to be humble is not to stoop until you are smaller than yourself, but to stand at your real height against some higher nature that will show you what the real smallness of your greatness is.” Phillips Brooks
